For dealers

Aurum Feed compares the prices gold dealers publish on their own pages, and sends every buyer back to the page the price came from. This page is for the shops on the map: what we read and how, what a listing brings you, and how to correct it or leave — with one e-mail, read and answered by a person.

What a listing brings you

  • Buyers at the moment they compare. Every price on the map, on each coin’s page and on your shop’s page links straight to your product page: no intermediary in between, and nothing added to your address.
  • No cost, now or later. There is no fee to be listed and no commission on what you sell, and no shop can pay to be listed or to rank higher: the ranking is the price, and the cheapest offer for a coin comes first whoever makes it.
  • A page of your own, in English and Italian: what you sell, what you ask over the metal, where you stand on each coin, and what you publish for your customers — address, payment methods, services, ratings.
  • A price cut that is seen. A lower price shows once we next read the page, and the log beside the map says when a shop has just become the cheapest for a coin.

What we read

Only public pages, the ones any visitor sees without an account: the product pages of the gold coins and bars in our catalogue, your robots.txt and your sitemap, and — when your catalogue is indexed, once when the shop is added and again if we re-index it — the catalogue pages that lead to those products.

From a product page we keep the price, its currency, whether the item is in stock, the product’s name and its address. From your pages we also keep what you publish for your customers: the shop’s address, telephone, e-mail and VAT number, the payment methods and services you list, and the ratings your pages show.

We never sign in, never fill in a form or a basket, and never read a page that needs an account. We publish none of your photographs and none of your descriptions.

How we read

Our crawler says who it is. Every request it sends to your shop carries this User-Agent, so you can recognise it in your logs and address it in your robots.txt:

Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; AurumFeedBot/1.0; +https://aurumfeed.live/for-dealers)
  • robots.txt first. We read it before any page of your shop, and again every day. We follow its group for AurumFeedBot if there is one, and the group for * if there is not; a page it disallows is not read. When the file cannot be read — a server error, no answer — we keep to the last copy we have, and a shop we have never read stays unread until the file answers.
  • At a pace your server will not notice. Two requests to your shop are at least half a second apart while we index your catalogue, and at least 3 seconds apart in the regular price checks, which read each product page about once an hour; every shop on the map shares one request a second. A Crawl-delay in your robots.txt replaces these gaps when it is longer, up to 60 seconds.
  • “Not now” is respected. A 429 or a 503 pauses every request to your shop for five minutes, doubling at each repeat up to an hour, or for as long as a Retry-After header asks, up to an hour.
  • A refusal is an answer. When your server answers our crawler with a 401 or a 403, we do not ask for that page any other way. We try it again less and less often, down to once an hour, so that a shop that lets us back in is found again; a line in robots.txt, or an e-mail, stops even that.
  • An anti-bot check is a refusal too. A page that answers with a Cloudflare challenge or a captcha is, to us, a 403: we do not read it any other way, and no third-party service reads your pages for us. Every request to your shop leaves our servers and carries our name.

What we show, and where

Your prices, each with the time it was read and a link to its product page: on the map, on the page of each coin and on your shop’s page, in English and Italian. A price far from what other shops ask for the same coin — more than 3.5% from the typical price — is held back until a person has looked at it.

Where your shop sits on the map comes from your Google listing, or from the address on your pages. The ratings are the platforms’ own, each with the date it was read and a link to the platform: Google’s from your Google listing, Trustpilot’s as your pages show it.

How many reads of your pages came back clean over the last thirty days is shown as well, as a percentage, once there are enough reads to say.

The same prices, each with the link to its product page, can also be read by programs through our API, on a paid plan.

Leaving the comparator

Write to info@ivancapponi.com from an address on your shop’s domain, or tell us who you are: company name and VAT number. No reason is needed, and nothing is automatic: a person reads the request.

Within five working days we stop reading your site, take your prices and your shop’s page off this site and off the API, and add your domain to our exclusion list, which our own tools also respect when they look for new shops. Then we write to confirm what was done, and when.

If you ask, we also delete the history of your prices and what we kept about the shop. Only the domain stays, on the exclusion list: it is what keeps you off. To come back, write again.

  • Ask to leave: info@ivancapponi.com

Or with robots.txt

Two lines in your robots.txt stop every read of your pages:

User-agent: AurumFeedBot
Disallow: /

We read the file at least once a day, so within a day the reads stop and your prices come off the map. To take your shop’s page off as well, and to have what we kept deleted, write to us too. The same group can close only part of your site — Disallow: /account/ — or slow us down, with Crawl-delay: 10.

Corrections, a feed, permissions

A price matched to the wrong coin, an old address, a rating out of date: write, and we correct it and tell you when it is done.

Would you rather send us your prices as a feed than have your pages read, or be read more slowly than this? Write, and we will agree it with you. A Crawl-delay in your robots.txt slows us down without asking.

If your terms of use do not allow what this page describes, tell us: we take the shop off rather than argue the point, and put it back only with your written permission.

  • Ask for a correction: info@ivancapponi.com

Personal data

Where a shop is run by a person, its name, address, telephone, e-mail and VAT number are personal data. We show only what the shop publishes for its customers, and for the reason it publishes it: so that a buyer knows who is selling. We take it from your own pages and from your Google listing; it is published while the shop is on the map, and deleted whenever you ask.

The legal basis is the legitimate interest of buyers, and of this site, in comparing offers (art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time (art. 21) by writing to the address above, and the shop comes off as this page describes. Prices are the dealers’ own published prices, VAT as they show it, before shipping and payment fees. We take no commission, and no dealer can pay to rank higher.
